Basic Bookkeeping & Financial Management
Overview:
Work one-on-one with Alex to create and maintain financial systems that will help you manage and understand your business better. Bookkeeping and financial reports can be scary for many folks. However, they are part of an essentialtoolkit for understanding what is going well and what isn’t for your business or organization. Learn how to set up systems that will give you reports that are
not just a bunch of numbers, but are useful pieces of information to understand the health of your operations.
Each class is custom-designed for you and your needs. Past students have usedthe course to: set up Excel sheets; learn Quickbooks and other basic accounting software; create paperwork flow; learn how to turn a Profit & Loss statement into action items; gain confidence in communicating the financial health of their organization with others, both internally and externally!
Logistics:
Course Dates: Custom one-on-one courses designed to fit your schedule available beginning July 15th. Please plan for up to 10 sessions of 2 hours each.
Location: The Root Social Justice Center, Brattleboro,VT or at your place of business
Materials: To be determined.
Certification: Students completing the course will receive a Flashbulb Course Certificate.

Tuition and Financial Aid: The tuition for this class is $2500. Vermont residents may be eligible for a VSAC Non-degree Grant to cover nearly the full tuition. See Tuition & Financial Aid for more information.
Instructor Bio:
In 2012, Alex started Open Bookkeeping, a local bookkeeping business with the intentions of creating alternative local economies based on shared values and creative solutions to economic injustices. OBK is rooted in the values and experiences learned from social justice organizing and managing the finances of small businesses and nonprofits. Alex is also currently pursuing a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) in an attempt to create local alternatives to capitalist economies. Outside of OBK, Alex is a founding member of both The Root Social Justice Center and HomoPromo, both based in Brattleboro.
