Sara Mehalick
Sara founded The Flashbulb in 2009 and is deeply interested in organizations and the personal growth that comes from the challenge of working with others. She is currently pursuing a MA in Psychology from Goddard College and received certification in Collab Facilitator Training, an organizational management system created by Round Sky Solutions. Sara has years of experience with social and ecological justice organizations and is a founding member of Rising Tide Vermont and a volunteer organizer with the Vermont Workers Center and Wheelock Mountain Farm. Sara teaches in the Burlington and Central Vermont regions.
Shawn Kelley
Shawn Kelley has spent 20 years working in intentional communities, learning alternative modes of approaching power, communication and collaborative project coordination. They have training in, conflict mediation, event production, Intentional Peer Support, Non-violent Communication, Self-direction/Self-Evaluation techniques, intersectional queer theory, and years of experience offering counseling and project support to people on a path toward organization, health, and meaningful occupation. They are a certified trauma informed yoga teacher, on the board of the Flynn Avenue Co-op, and founder of Revolving Center, an organization that offers peer support and therapeutic yoga to low income people. Shawn has outfitted and captained boats at sea, designed 12 volt electrical systems, repaired engines, and lived off-grid in all seasons. They have lived and taught in Burlington for the past decade and are familiar with the many resources available within the community.
Alex Fischer
In 2012, Alex started Open Bookkeeping, a local bookkeeping business with the intentions of creating alternative local economies based on shared values and creative solutions to economic injustices. OBK is rooted in the values and experiences learned from social justice organizing and managing the finances of small businesses and nonprofits. Alex holds Masters in Business Administration (MBA), pursued in an attempt to create local alternatives to capitalist economies. Outside of OBK, Alex is a founding member of both The Root Social Justice Center and HomoPromo, both based in Brattleboro. Alex teaches in the Brattleboro area.
Amanda Franz
Amanda has been studying, teaching, and performing various somatic movement modalities for the past 10 years around United States and in Canada. Some of those modalities include contact improvisation, Butoh, Skinner Releasing Technique, Axis Syllabus, Authentic Movement, Feldenkrais, Alexander Technique, Body Mind Centering, clowning, physical theater and puppetry. Along with her steadfast exploration of movement and it's ability for personal transformation, her work is influenced by her study of Non-violent Communication, Co-Counseling, intentional communities, horizontal organization structures, Joanna Macy, permaculture and various alternative education pedagogues. Amanda teaches the Reimbodiment Training offered through The Flashbulb.
