Re-embodiment Training:
Re-patterning through somatic
movement
Overview
Our bodies are our first homes, from which we move, act, feel and engage with the world around us. Our connection to ourselves as body directly influences our ability to have healthy relationships, homes, communities and cultures. By cultivating a whole body awareness, we begin to notice the patterns of stress and tension in our lives and start to process them in different ways. Through the study of movement and perception, we will establish a resiliency that permeates our homes, workplaces and communities.
As a one-on-one course, we will craft the course together, setting goals and intentions to integrate and develop the skills of
re-embodiment while meeting personal needs. The course will focus on embodiment, or the experience of ourselves as bodies, why this is of utmost importance, how to cultivate a practice of embodiment and ways of bringing this work into the rest of our lives. We will pull from different fields of knowledge such as Axis Syllabus, Authentic Movement, Body Mind Centering, Somatic Awareness technique, contact improvisation, clowning, physical theater, Joanna Macy's "Work that Reconnects" and Butoh.
As with any work that involves deep listening of the body/self, this class promises to be gentle yet powerful.
